Commitment to sustainability and the environment
Hawkers believes pollution and deforestation are major contributing factors to global warming as the world is about to reach an environmental turning point, and the company firmly believes it is a good corporate citizen.
“We know from our own experience how to revolutionize the eyewear industry,” the company recently stated. “So we also recognize that it is our responsibility as a market leader to lead by example by promoting sustainability.”
Hawkers conducted extensive research and development in the development of the H20 product line. The result is a line of sunglasses that uses environmentally friendly materials, breakthrough biomaterials and biodegradable products, as well as proven techniques for recycling existing plastics.
To make this edition of its popular sunglasses, the company collected tens of thousands of plastic bottles that had polluted the ocean. This is the inspiration for the name H20 as the company works to reduce the amount of microplastic contamination that can be harmful to aquatic life and the food chain.
Hawkers notes that it will take global collaboration to ensure a clean and green future for all of us, and promises that this is the company’s first step into that future. The materials used are high quality, hypoallergenic and lightweight, and the tough and durable glasses can be disposed of in a landfill. H20 can generate 935,705 watt hours and provides enough power to ignite a 60 watt LED light bulb for 15,595 hours.
