An unique interview with DesignGeo – meet the artist behind the luxurious wall artwork model

Santiago Legarreta, popularly known as DesignGeo, is an illustrator and digital artist who graduated from the European Institute of Design with a Blended Master in Brand Design.

Over the years he has developed an artistic style that stems from the influences of Pop Art and Cubism. Each of his compositions consists of geometric figures and thus develops iconic characters, animals and luxury goods.

Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a huge fan of Santiago’s amazing designs

After gaining international fame over the years, he was hired to work on high-profile projects with luxury brands, as well as developing custom-made products for famous personalities such as American record producer Scott Storch and Arsenal footballer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. We sit down with the artist to talk about his brand, processes and hopes for the future.

How was the DesignGeo brand born?

DesignGeo was born after studying graphic design in 2010 and over time my interest in pop art and illustration began to grow. This made me want to learn and improve, and so practically every day I started creating illustrations that I shared on the profiles of my social networks like Behance, Instagram and Facebook. The views, preferences, and follow-up growth happened by themselves, and the rest is history.

All the opportunities that have arisen along the way, be it creating pieces for celebrities, working with major brands, or special developments for private collectors around the world, I owe to my followers and supporters!

Tell us about the process you go into creating your designs?

When it comes to carrying out my creative process, the main thing is to open my mind and let creativity fly. Inspiration and reference searches are also very important and always help to take ideas one step further.

I usually start with paper and digital sketches before switching to the Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator design programs. After I have created the illustrations, I move on to developing the canvas and that’s how the idea for an exclusive wall art emerges.

Why does the theme of your creations relate to the world of luxury?

I’ve always been particularly fond of exotic cars and designer watches, but the subjects that inspire me are usually diverse. I use different aspects and elements of luxury living to inspire myself and create unique and exclusive pieces.

I’ve had the great opportunity to work with brands like Bomberg, MCT Watches and Parmigiani Fleurier and over the years there has been nothing like being able to combine my passions with my work.

What makes DesignGeo different from the others?

The difference that DesignGeo has is that they are unique designer pieces that convey the luxury and desire for an exclusive lifestyle.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of your job?

As I mentioned earlier, the fact of working with great brands in the world of watchmaking and the ability to create a personalized portrait for football star Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. These opportunities motivate me to keep improving day by day.

Also, I have the opportunity to meet many people around the world and even share things that are beyond my work.

DesignGeos collectors can be found in more than 50 countries around the world, and the list continues to grow day by day

What are your future plans and dreams for DesignGeo?

Achieving dreams and goals – many! But if I had to focus on one thing, it would surely be my gallery. A space where I can exhibit all of my work and where people can learn more about the process and behind the scenes of each of my creations, interact and discover the DesignGeo world.
