An outage on Monday, the first day of work in 2021, caused disruption to remote workers who rely on the platform to message and video chat with colleagues.
Millions of people use Slack, and the service was especially important during the Covid pandemic.
The outage began at around 10 a.m. CET, but service resumed approximately three hours later.
Slack stocks fell nearly 1% in afternoon trading.
In September 2019, Slack’s stock fell 14% after its quarterly earnings report showed revenue fell $ 8.2 million due to loans to customers following disruptions to service levels. Credits help companies cover future bills.
Salesforce announced on December 1 that it was buying Slack for over $ 27 billion.
During the outage, Slack’s status dashboard indicated that there were issues with messaging and connections, but did not indicate what caused the issues or when to get chat back to normal.
In an update on the outage at 1:00 p.m. (CET), Slack said, “Some customers may be able to connect, but performance may also suffer. We are continuing to work to fix the problem.”
According to Slack, the company’s app had 12.5 million concurrently connected users as of March.
