How lengthy will Jacob deGrom be out? Damage timeline, return date, newest updates on Mets Star Pitcher
Jacob deGrom is concerned with another health problem. The Mets ace was diagnosed with flexor tendonitis in his pitching arm Friday night after being pulled out of his start against the Padres early.
DeGrom missed three starts in May with lat inflammation and discomfort in his right side. Now he is looking into a possible break because of an arm problem.

32 year old deGrom was special when it came to taking the ball. He lowered his ERA to .56 with six scoreless innings against San Diego. His 10 strikeouts gave him 103 in 64 innings.
But he was removed after only 80 fields of play, and television cameras showed him talking to team principal Brian Chicklo. That raised the fear of Mets fans.
What’s next for deGrom? Here’s everything we know about his injury and the latest news on when he can return to the hill.
What is Jacob deGrom’s injury?
The Mets announced that deGrom had tendonitis of the right flexor muscle. The flexor tendon extends from the forearm to the base of the fingers and controls the fingers’ ability to flex and grip things. Tendonitis is inflammation or irritation of a tendon.
How long will Jacob deGrom be out?
DeGrom’s schedule is unknown, but he told reporters after the game that he might not miss any action.
“I’ve had a couple of elbow problems and I know what that feels like. So my concern is not too great, ”he said, according to MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo.
“I’m pretty optimistic that I’ll be out there in five days,” deGrom said later, referring to his next scheduled start against the Cubs on Wednesday.
DeGrom has been to the IL twice in his MLB career due to elbow problems, in 2018 and 2019. He was named the National League Cy Young Award winner in both seasons.
Still, it is likely that the Mets will again be careful with their staff anchor. The team put him on the injured list in mid-May because of complaints on his right-hand side. The launch on Friday was his fourth since it was reactivated on May 25th. He was scratched from a start on May 4th due to irritation of the lat muscle.
New York has been working on injuries to its rotation year-round. Noah Syndergaard (elbows) and Carlos Carrasco (thighs) have been absent all season, and Taijuan Walker (side) has spent some time on the injured list.
