Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell speaks Thursday in a virtual chat hosted by Princeton University’s Bendheim Center for Finance.

The conversation comes at a pivotal time for the Federal Reserve, which committed to current policies in December until it sees significant progress in meeting its inflation and employment targets.

As part of its response to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Fed has cut its short-term policy rate to near zero and is buying bonds worth at least $ 120 billion every month. In recent speeches, some Fed officials said they see the economy recovering strongly this year, potentially driving the removal of some accommodations.
